Buses in Guangzhou

Bus is one of the most important traffic inChina. When we visit Guangzhou in China, we can not only take taxi, but also can take bus. There are so many buses in Guangzhou, how can we take buses? Here are some introduction for buses in Guangzhou.

At present, there are more than 450 bus lines opening in Guangzhou City, most of the buses are running at from 06:00 to 22:00, and about 44 of which are running at night usually from 21:00 to the next 06:00. During holidays such as National Holiday,Spring Festival, Labor’s Day, some buses will run later than 22:00.

Besides, about 80% of the city-buses are equipped with air-conditioner. The public bus usually charge CNY 2 now, for some long distance, it will charge by different distance. You can pay cash when go on the bus, or use a Yang Chen Tong

There are four bus transportation hubs in Guangzhou, including Guangzhou Railway Station Bus Terminal, Tianpingjia Bus Terminal, Zhongshan Balu (Zhongshan 8 Road) Bus Terminal and the East Railway Station Bus Terminal.

 

Guangzhou Railway Station Bus Terminal is located on the Huanshi Xi Lu, near the Guangzhou Railway Station. It shoulders the bus transfer services between the Railway Station and the downtown area of Guangzhou. The transfer bus routes include 52, 180, 201, 210, 211, 228, 234, 254, 257, 269, 269A, 275, 529, 550, 552, 803, 805, 807A, 807, 840, 862B, 862A and Night Buses No.7, 8, 11, 14, 18, 25, 31, 33 and 41.

Tips: There are many garments wholesale markets around the Guangzhou Railway Station Bus Terminal.

Tianpingjia Bus Terminal, situated on the Xinghua Lu, Tianhe District, is the only bus transfer center in the northeast of Guantgzhou. The bus routes at Tianpingjia Bus Terminal include 11, 28, 51, 51A, 85, 109, 110, 111, 112, 408, 509, 534, 543, 701, Light 5 and Higher Education Mega Center No.4.

Zhongshan Balu (Zhongshan 8 Road) Bus Terminal is located on the Zhongshan Ba Lu, Liwan District. The bus routes from Zhongshan Balu Bus Terminal include 8, 9, 19, 82, 85, 104, 107, 109, 125A, 125, 132, 133, 196, 204, 208, 212, 250, 261, 270, 415, 555, 705, 885, Night 20, Night 33, Night 37, Night 44, Tour Bus 1, Tour Bus 2, Tour Bus 3 and Express 23.

East Railway Station Bus Terminal is located on the Linhe Xi Lu (Linhe Road West), is an indoor bus terminal. It is a transfer hub for the transportation between the downtown area and the East Railway Station. Pearl River Tour
Bus No.131A and No.131B take you to tour the both banks of the Pearl River. They both start from Chigang Bus Terminal and mainly pass by Chigang Tower, Xinhong Garden, Zhujiang Square, Dongdi (East Bank of Peal River), Binjiang Lu (Binjiang Road), Dashatou Dock and Xinghai Musical Hall.

Tip: In Guangzhou, the translation forms of street names are not the same. Sometimes, you may find the street name is written in Pinyin but sometimes you can see the English name. It would be very complicated for the overseas tourists to understand. However, Guangzhou is doing the best to unify the translation forms of the street names. They will use the form of 'Chinese characters + English translation' to show the street names. For example, Liwan Lu will be written as Liwan Road. 'Lu' and 'jie' mean 'road' or 'street’; 'dadao' means 'avenue' or 'boulevard'.

Furthermore, now Yang Cheng Tong is not only can use in Guangzhou City, but can also use in other cities in Guangdong, such as Foshan, Zhonshan, Jianmen, Zhaoqing… So, if you visit Guangzhou frequently or stay in Guangzhou for some time, to have a Yang Cheng Tong will be convenient. (Yang Cheng Tong can also used in Railway, and buy in some shops.)
